My Lewes IDM
Cont
What do you think about
traffic wardens? I actually applied to be one. I think
they’re vital. Lewes is a crowded Medieval town full
of cars it wasn’t built for, and people should be stopped
from putting cars where they shouldn’t be put.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to?
Cliffe. It always struck me as being slightly independent,
slightly out of order and slightly rebellious, which fits
in with me.
Which newspaper do you read?
The Times, and occasionally the Argus.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development?
I’m in favour of knocking down the industrial estate
and building flats. People need housing.
Favourite Lewes landmark? The
Martyr’s Memorial.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday
afternoon? I frequently walk round the countryside
out to Ringmer and through Glynde. At the pub in Ringmer they
often turn the jukebox off and allow me to play the piano.
What’s on your hifi? I
haven’t got one. I go out every night so I don’t
need one. My favourite song is You’ve Got to Hide Your
Love Away by the Beatles.
Lewes would be better if… more people walked
short distances instead of driving. Then there would be less
traffic and we’d all be fitter.
What Lewes really doesn’t need
is… to grow much bigger. We’ve reached
an ideal size and we ought to stick with it. We want to keep
all the fields around the town as fields.
